The Lock Up - West Midlands Police Museum

The West Midlands Police Museum, located in the historic Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham, England, offers visitors a glimpse into the fascinating history of law enforcement in the region. Housed in a Victorian cell block operational from 1891 to 2016, the museum showcases an impressive collection of artifacts and archives, dating back to the time before the establishment of Birmingham City Police in 1839. It also features a selection of captivating paintings, including a portrait of Sir Charles Horton Rafter, the esteemed Chief Constable of Birmingham. Reopening in April 2022 after a heritage lottery-funded refurbishment.
